Our waiting lists are designed so that each one of our females completely skips over one whole heat cycle to allow rest. Taking into account each female's natural fluctuations of their heat cycles, our females will only be bred ONCE per year or will typically have a minimum of 10-12 months between litters after skipping one cycle UNLESS advised by our VETERINARIAN to breed sooner for one of the two following reasons:

1. In the event that Pyometra is determined to be a risk for that female, a vet may recommend breeding 6-7 months later instead of 10-12 months later. Pyometra is a potentially fatal infection of the uterus that can be common in older unspayed females regardless of breed, size, or health.

2. A vet will also sometimes advise to breed sooner in order to "break up" females who are syncing up their cycles and the pattern of when they have their puppies needs to be changed in order to give a larger time-span between litters being born.  If multiple females cycle at the same time and it's not "broken up" then they will continue to cycle together and then the next issue would be having too many litters at the same time.  Skipping two cycles in this situation is not really an option as it might put a female at undue risk of Pyometra.  And the reason this decision is up to the vet is because if we do need to "break up" females that are syncing up their cycles, then we obviously need to make sure that the female we plan to breed earlier than originally anticipated is 100% healthy and recovered from her previous litter.

Our females are not bred past their 6th year, and many retire much earlier, each female is different and needs to be treated accordingly.  All breeding is done under veterinarian advice, there are NO exceptions on this matter!  We will skip a cycle between litters to allow 10-12 months rest 90% of the time for the well-being of each of our females! It is very important to us that our girls are able to rest and rejuvenate between litters and to simply have time to "be a dog"!  In the event that our veterinarian advises breeding a female on what would normally be considered that females "skip cycle", it would ONLY be done if the female has COMPLETELY recovered from her previous pregnancy in weight and overall health and the number of litters that female has in the future would be reduced for an earlier retirement.

Also, the anticipated date/month of birth listed for each litter may vary 2-4 months in either direction depending on nature's influence on each female's heat cycle. Sometimes females cycle bang on when they "should" cycle and other times we are all left waiting. Female dogs usually cycle every 6-9 months and we skip one cycle between breeding and so if that female was early or late it could shift 2-4 months in either direction of the listed prediction for the anticipated birth of the litter. Weather can also drastically change when a female comes into heat (most animals cycle spring and fall), and so it is possible for prolonged hot or cold weather to change when a female cycles. Female dogs will also often "sync up" their heat cycles with other females, so we may have groups of females cycling together and potentially being due and birthing around the same time too! Please keep this in mind when you are looking at our waiting lists, as the anticipated birth date/month for our planned litters may change. All changes to the timeline for our planned litters will be outlined on this page!

Note from Pleasant Meadows:  Starting in 2022 we are beginning our transition over to the Springerdoodle and Brittanydoodle and by 2023 we will have limited Cavapoo litters.  We are making this transition as we no longer believe that the Cavapoo is safe to breed because of the declining health of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel as an overall breed.  We have been raising the Cavapoo for 12 years and have dedicated ourselves to the health of the breed, but it is not possible to find *NEW* healthy Cavalier lines to replace our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels as they retire.  The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is NOT healthy and we will not continue breeding them BEYOND OUR REMAINING DOGS that we KNOW ARE HEALTHY because they have up to 4 generations of HEALTH CLEARED dogs behind them.  Our Multigen Cavapoo stud, Arlo, and his daughters Celina and Atira, and our other Cavapoos are health cleared for over 250 diseases or cleared by parentage.  The Cavalier and the Cavapoo have become "too popular" and OTHER breeders are no longer breeding for health but instead for GREED!  We are moving away from the Cavalier and the Cavapoo to the Springerdoodle and the Brittanydoodle so that we can continue to provide healthy companions for families, and we will also have some litters of purebred English Springer Spaniels and Standard Poodles.  We encourage everyone to consider a healthier alternative with the Springerdoodle and Brittanydoodle since they have similar temperaments to the Cavapoo.  And for anyone considering the Cavapoo from OTHER breeders/sources to really question the health of the breed.  We had truly intended to breed the Cavapoo "forever" since we pride ourselves in having a solid reputation for healthy puppies with excellent temperaments, but we are blowing the whistle that the Cavapoo is becoming increasingly ill because OTHER breeders are not health screening their Cavaliers and Cavapoos.

We are committed to ONLY raising healthy puppies from health screened parents, and that is something you will not find elsewhere with the Cavapoo.  We contacted over 40 breeders for the Cavalier, Cavapoo, and other Cavalier mixes across Canada (and have screenshots of the conversations) and NONE of them health screened their dogs.  This isn't a message to run down any other breeders, this is a message to be CAREFUL where you buy them, and if you want a puppy that comes from health cleared parents -- that is our commitment!  We will have limited positions on our Cavapoo waiting lists for dogs under 25 pounds, but it is our plan to raise the Cavapoo for as long as we can with our Moyen Cavapoo stud Arlo and our Standard Poodle females, and we will have some litters from Arlo's Cavapoo daughters (all fully health screened).  After 12 years of raising the Cavapoo, we can be confident in the health of our lines (because they are health screened), but going forward we will be phasing over to the Brittanydoodle and the Springerdoodle, because it's impossible to find *NEW* healthy Cavalier lines, and we have found the Brittanydoodle and Springerdoodle to have wonderful and comparable dispositions to the Cavapoo.

Planned  2022  Litters

(SPRING THROUGH FALL)

Before filling out our PUPPY APPLICATION to apply to have your name placed on one of our waiting lists, please be certain that you are willing to wait for a litter to be born.  We can't magically produce puppies from out of thin air, and the health and well-being of our dogs will always come first!  We want to have good homes lined up for our puppies and this is the reason for posting our plans and for this clarification.

We do not place families on our waiting lists on a "first come, first serve" basis -- we will decide whether to place your name on one of our waiting lists after reviewing your puppy application, and we will help guide you to the best waiting list to suit your family, home, and lifestyle. If you have not heard back from us within 1-5 days, please check your spam folder.  Otherwise, you can assume that we either did not receive your application or we did not find your home suitable for whatever reason we see fit -- we are not obligated to give a reason for refusal. We process through puppy applications as quickly as possible, but our dogs and puppies needs come first and so we kindly ask for your patience!

Our planned litters are posted here as simply a plan!  We cannot predict the future or guarantee that a female will become pregnant, and we can't make it happen faster than nature allows.  If a specific waiting list is full, we may be able to keep you in mind as a back up contact as per our Waiting List Procedures in the event that a position on a waiting list or a puppy becomes available in a litter.

Again, our planned 2022 litters are posted only as a reference and may be subject to change!
