Meat Variety

WE FEED OUR DOGS AND PUPPIES 100% RAW FOOD PLUS THE ADDITION OFVEGGIESQUAIL EGGS, FRUIT AND HERBS, TRI-MINERALS AND PRO-BIOTICSPRE-BIOTICS AND OMEGA OILS -- ALL FOR A BALANCED SPECIES-APPROPRIATE DIET.

WE FEED A MIXTURE OF A BALANCED RAW DIET WHICH INCLUDES EITHER RAW MEAT, DEHYDRATED RAW MEAT, OR GENTLY COOKED MEAT.

All food fed to our dogs is void of additives, fillers, artificial flavours, chemicals, and has no added hormones, and to the best of our ability is antibiotic free, non-GMO, or organic.

Organic Definition: of, relating to, yielding, or involving the use of food produced with the use of feed or fertilizer of plant or animal origin without employment of chemically formulated fertilizers, growth stimulants, antibiotics, or pesticides.

Our Core Nutrition Philosophy

  • We recommend all brands that are antibiotic-free and hormone-free meat, grass-fed, non-GMO, and organic.

  • We approve of these high-quality standards in all formats, including kibble, raw, freeze-dried, dehydrated, air-dried, and gently cooked diets.

  • We rotate through a variety of proteins, such as turkey, duck, beef, lamb, bison, venison, elk, rabbit, pork, and fish.

  • We include fresh veggies, quail eggs, fruit, and herbs.

  • We strictly avoid chicken for both our adult dogs and weaning puppies.

  • We strictly avoid all additives, fillers, artificial flavours, chemicals, and synthetic stimulants.

Why We Avoid Pesticides, Antibiotics, and Hormones

  • Long-term exposure to trace amounts of antibiotics ingested through commercial meat can overload a dog's system, disrupt healthy gut bacteria, and contribute to antibiotic resistance.

  • Hormone residues found in conventional meats can disrupt a dog's natural hormonal balance and glandular regulatory system, potentially leading to developmental and reproductive issues.

  • Pesticides and GMOs carry heavy loads of chemicals like glyphosate, which research has linked to organ damage, severe allergies, and immune system complications in pets.

  • Choosing organic and non-GMO ensures your pet is consuming food that is free from harmful chemicals, supporting better digestion, coat health, and overall long-term vitality.

* We feed a balanced, species-appropriate raw diet consisting of white and red meats.

* To maintain optimal health, we use a rotational feeding schedule.

* We keep approximately 50% of the diet consistent while adding a different protein on a regular schedule.

We have found that combining food as our dog's primary food helps provide the needed rotation for a balanced diet from multiple sources!  You can purchase any one of the above mentioned brands from one of their distributors.  The variety of meat and organ blends, vegetables, and bone ratio are the perfect mix for a species appropriate diet.

We also recommend feeding a variety of frozen raw treats, dehydrated treats and bully sticks, frozen fruits and vegetables, as well as supplements and vitamins for your dog's overall care.

All of our studs and pregnant females get a "super beefed up meal" while they are producing or pregnant/nursing.  They will have extra meat and egg for protein, and especially for our females, they will have goats cheese (for calcium/highly digestible) in addition to the added meat and egg. It is very important to us to maintain our dogs so that they are in perfect health!

Proper nutrition is very important for breeding dogs as it is physically demanding on a female dog to give birth and care for a litter of puppies! Quite often a female dog will shed out around 40% to 60% of her fur while she is nursing, and she may also lose a fair bit of weight. Those are the outward demands that we can see, but essentially she gives her puppies everything she has in her body by way of nutrients, and even the calcium from her bones! This is why we rarely, unless under veterinarian advisement breed back-to-back heat cycles so that our females can have time to rejuvenate between litters, and we also feed extra foods that are rich in vitamins to help replenish the essentials that the mother needs to be strong and healthy for herself and her puppies.

It is likewise important for a growing puppy to have adequate nutrition and we have selected a puppy formula that allows for proper nutrition to be absorbed and for our puppies to maintain excellent health.

The Importance of Supplements!

* Our puppies are weaned onto and go home eating a raw diet.

* A starter pack of their current frozen raw food will be included in your Puppy Kit.

* The starter pack is packaged in a reusable cooler bag to keep it cold on your trip home.

Why We Start Our Puppies on Turkey (Instead of Chicken):

* Avoiding Common Sensitivities: Chicken is one of the most common dietary triggers for food intolerances, skin irritation, and itchy paws in dogs. By avoiding chicken entirely from the start, we protect our puppies from developing early sensitivities.

* Gentle on Developing Tummies: Turkey is a lean, highly digestible white meat that provides exceptional nutrition for growing puppies without overloading their sensitive digestive systems.

* Laying the Groundwork for Rotation: Starting with a clean, high-quality white meat like turkey gives our puppies an ideal foundation before introducing our broader rotation of red meats and alternative proteins.

* Commitment to Clean Sourcing: Just like all our feeding practices, the turkey we use is strictly free from added hormones, antibiotics, and artificial additives to ensure optimal health from day one.

A Note on Wet & Canned Foods

  • We do not recommend canned or wet foods as a primary daily diet for your puppy or adult dog.

  • Canned foods work best as supplemental feeding to add healthy moisture to meals, or as interactive enrichment spread onto Lick Mats or stuffed inside Kong-type toys.
