Two week old puppy update:
We had hoped to share an update with everyone over the weekend, but Hydro One had other plans for our area! A sudden, unscheduled maintenance and line upgrade left us plunged into darkness and radio silence for days with flickering lights at most, making it unsafe to turn the computer on. Once power was restored, our main goal was to capture photos of the puppies with their newly opened eyes. Taking photos of little ones who are either winking, sleeping peacefully, or calmly gazing around the photo set proved to be a fun challenge, but we managed to capture a sweet set of moments for you!
Celina’s little ones are exceptionally content, plump, and thriving under her expert, devoted care. She continues to handle motherhood with complete grace and ease, ensuring every puppy is well-nourished, warm, and thoroughly loved.
Reaching the two-week mark opens up an entirely new world for these puppies, both literally and sensory-wise:
-
Eyes Opening & Visual Wonder: Their eyes are now fully open! While their vision is still soft and developing, opening their eyes allows them to begin perceiving light, movement, and shapes. There is a genuine sense of wonder as they process visual input for the very first time, taking in their surroundings and beginning to recognize their littermates and human caretakers.
-
Awakening Senses & Recognition: Along with their vision, their ear canals are opening up as well. They are starting to hear the soft sounds of their nursery, the comforting presence of Celina, and the familiar, gentle voices of our family. Combined with an already sharp sense of smell, they now instantly catch wind of Celina entering the room or our hands reaching into the whelping box to interact with them.
-
Advanced Mobility & Strength: At 2 weeks and 3 days old, these puppies are already showing impressive physical development! While they are still mostly crawling and do not yet have the stamina or energy for sustained walking, they are actively pushing themselves up onto all fours and taking short, determined walking steps. Taking these early bursts of steps is quite advanced for this age, though it comes as no surprise given the strength and vitality of a healthy, diverse cross like this!
-
Early Instincts & Clean Habits: With this new mobility comes the start of their natural hygienic instincts—they are already attempting to waddle away from their main sleeping pile when they wake up to eliminate, keeping their core sleeping area in the whelping box remarkably clean.
-
Social Sparks & Growing Personalities: We are catching the very first glimpses of littermate interaction, from tiny, clumsy nose-boops and soft pawing to cute little yawns and quiet vocal squeaks as they practice using their voices.
They are growing stronger by the day, transitioning from tiny newborns into curious, active little pups. Beyond Celina's round-the-clock care, we are continuing with gentle daily handling, sensory exposure, and weight checks to ensure every single puppy stays on track.
We will capture a little video soon so you can see all these sweet movements in action. We will also be sending out a separate email shortly filled with helpful tips for care, training, enrichment, and our top recommended items to help you prepare. We are so excited to watch their unique personalities continue to blossom over the coming weeks!

Birth Announcement:
We are thrilled to share a very special puppy update with everyone today!
This extraordinary litter brings together Celina’s 18+ year Cavapoo lineage with Carob’s Havapoo line, creating a thoughtful pairing designed for exceptional genetic health, structural integrity, and long-term vitality.
On September 20th, between 6:15 AM and 8:29 AM, Celina welcomed six beautiful, strong babies into the world. This birth date holds a deeply meaningful place in our hearts, as September 20th was my grandma’s birthday. My grandparents were an integral foundation of Pleasant Meadows, making this litter feel all the more sacred and special to us.
As a seasoned mother, Celina naturally falls into motherhood with absolute ease. She has always been one of our very best moms, showing a deep devotion and gentle patience from the moment her puppies arrive. Her tranquil nature has already settled over the whelping box, instilling a remarkably calm, content demeanor across her entire litter.

We were blessed with 5 handsome boys and 1 darling girl. After five strong, active little brothers made their entrance, the female arrived last at 8:29 AM as the ultimate cherry on top! With there only being one girl in this litter, we won't be choosing a puppy to retain for our program from this pairing, as much as we were hoping it would work out to do so.
There is truly a "look" for everyone in this diverse and striking litter. Take a peek at our group photos below to see these gorgeous shades and markings for yourself!

The visual array of colors in this group is breathtaking:
-
1 Red Sable Parti: Expressing a lovely chestnut red base coat with warm honey tones on the face and dark, contrasting sable tipping over the eyes and on the tail and ears over clean white parti markings.
* Second in from the left / MALE
-
1 Caramel Brown Parti: Featuring a rich, warm caramel brown tone with soft red tones throughout that create a beautiful contrast against white patches. (fine line between Caramel Brown or Red Sable Parti / not clear at this stage)
* Second in from the right / FEMALE
-
2 Chocolate Partis: Displaying a deep burnished chocolate (very dark) patches for one, and the other with classic chocolate brown patches -- both balanced against crisp white coats.
* Classic chocolate brown parti middle LEFT / MALE
* Burnished chocolate parti middle RIGHT / MALE
-
2 Chocolate Abstracts:
Rich, velvety chocolate coats highlighted by white markings on their chests, feet/paws, tail tips, with one puppy displaying white markings on its face and back of neck, and the other carrying a cute white patch on the back of his neck.
* Classic chocolate brown parti abstract far LEFT / MALE
* Burnished chocolate abstract far RIGHT / MALE
At this stage, watching newborn puppies navigate their early days is nothing short of fascinating. Born into the world completely blind and deaf, their survival relies entirely on two powerful, fully developed senses: touch and smell. Guided purely by instinct and thermal receptors, these tiny puppies navigate using scent trails to locate Celina’s milk and seek out the crucial warmth of her body. Because newborns cannot yet regulate their own internal body temperature, they snuggle tightly in a warm pile, relying on their mother's heat and body contact to feel safe, comfortable, and warm.
Beginning on day three, we will begin incorporating Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) into their daily routine. Originally developed by the U.S.Military for their canine program, ENS involves five mild, controlled thermal and tactile exercises performed once a day between days 3 and 16. These simple, gentle stressors kickstart the puppy's neurological system during a critical window of early development, providing a lifetime of physical and emotional benefits:
-
Physical Benefits: Improved cardiovascular performance, stronger heartbeats, stronger adrenal glands, greater tolerance to stress, and a more resilient immune system.
-
Social & Emotional Benefits: Enhanced problem-solving abilities, greater emotional stability, better adaptability to new environments, and a calmer, more confident transition into their future homes.
Alongside ENS, we conduct Early Scent Introduction (ESI), introducing one new natural scent each day (such as pine, earth, herbs, or leather) for 5 seconds. ESI stimulates their olfactory system before their eyes and ears open, building early scent awareness, cognitive engagement, and confidence when encountering new smells later in life.
We could not be prouder of Celina and her beautiful new family. To give you a sweet glimpse into their very first days in the whelping box, please enjoy this special video update of Celina and her sweet babies below!
The Ultimate Legacy Tri-Blend: Announcing the Highly Anticipated Pairing of Celina & Carob
It is with immense pride and profound excitement that we announce a truly monumental pairing for our programme. As we celebrate 18 years of deeply committed, purposeful breeding, we are bringing together the absolute pinnacle of our foundational lines to create what we believe will be the ultimate family companion. We are officially announcing the pairing of our beloved fifth-generation Cavapoo, Celina, with our exceptional Havapoo gentleman, Carob. This pairing is the magnificent culmination of nearly two decades of careful selection, extensive health screening, and a passionate dedication to preserving the very best traits of our foundational breeds.
The 18-Year Legacy of Celina
Celina represents everything we have strived to achieve over the past 18 years. She is the stunning combination of our two original foundational lines of Cavapoos, seamlessly merging the genetics of our legendary studs and foundational mothers, all of whom have been meticulously health-tested. Throughout our history, we have carefully ebbed and flowed between adding more Poodle or more Cavalier into our lines, strategically balancing the need for broad genetic diversity with the strict retention of the hallmark traits we so deeply cherish. Celina, a Red Sable and White Parti Cavapoo, carries four generations of thoroughly health-cleared dogs behind her.
To truly understand Celina's remarkable nature, one must look at her sire, Arlo. Arlo’s legacy in the realm of emotional support is nothing short of legendary. Over half of his offspring have gone on to serve in vital, life-changing supportive roles. His puppies are out in the world working as fully accredited St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs, PTSD Service Dogs, and Medical Alert Service Dogs. They regularly participate in school reading programmes, visit hospitals, and bring light to senior care homes. Furthermore, Arlo's line has shown an incredible, intuitive ability to provide unofficial therapy and unwavering support for children on the neurodivergent spectrum, including those with Autism and Down Syndrome. This high-performance emotional excellence is cemented into Celina's DNA.
Celina has already proven herself as an outstanding mother, passing down this incredible lineage to her own puppies, many of whom have also gone on to fulfill important supportive therapy roles. We have kept two of her beautiful daughters, Channah and Caidi (sired by Leo and Reuben), to continue her legacy in our home. While we love Channah and Caidi immensely, and they hold a vital place in our future plans, they carry a different genetic blend from their sires. For this specific cross, we desire the pure, authentic genetics of the foundation lines we established 18 years ago to merge with Carob. That is why we are bringing Celina out of retirement for one final, highly anticipated litter. At six years of age, she is as healthy as an ox, has a pristine history of birthing beautifully, and her robust vitality makes it perfectly sensible to bestow her essential foundation genes upon this next generation.
Enter Carob: Our Foundation Asset
To complement Celina's rich Cavalier and Poodle heritage, we are pairing her with Carob, our handsome Chocolate and White Havapoo. Integrating a Havapoo into our established Cavapoo lines was a highly deliberate, strategic choice designed to elevate the health, structure, and well-being of our puppies. Carob brings a wealth of health diversity to our programme that goes far beyond his beautiful cocoa-patterned coat. He has been an absolute joy to raise, and we are currently seeing the breathtaking fruits of his genetics in his very first litter. Without a doubt, his current puppies are the most intelligent, gentle, and profoundly aware puppies we have ever produced. Their level of curiosity is astounding, and they are displaying highly advanced physical abilities, easily sitting up, walking, and engaging in play at an age far earlier than we typically observe. Carob is proving to be an extraordinary asset.
The Benefits of the "Tri-Blend" (Cavapoo x Havapoo)
By bringing together the Cavalier, the Poodle, and the Havanese, we are creating a thoughtful "Tri-Blend" of genetics that offers unparalleled benefits across every conceivable metric:
-
Genetic Health and Diversity: By thoughtfully outcrossing and introducing the Havanese line, we dramatically increase the genetic diversity (heterozygosity) of the puppies. The Havanese is a breed celebrated for its exceptional longevity, and by incorporating this trait, we are working to extend the overall lifespan and vitality of our dogs. This vital diversity helps to actively move away from breed-specific weaknesses, resulting in a more robust, resilient dog that is biologically built for health and longevity.
-
Structural and Bodily Health: Where many programmes focus solely on size, we focus heavily on substance. The Havanese influence introduces a wonderful sturdiness and substantial "boning" that beautifully complements the finer frame of the Poodle. This creates a more durable dog with a solid foundation, including optimal skull and brain cavity development. Crucially, this outcrossing strategy is designed to support long-term heart health by mitigating the concentration of heart-related genetic predispositions often found within closed or closely related Cavalier lines. This creates a dog that is perfectly equipped for an active, long-lasting family life.
-
A "Breathable" and Functional Coat: Pure Poodle curls can sometimes become dense and trap moisture against the skin. By adding the Havanese influence, the coat gains a "looser" wave that allows for improved airflow. This proactively helps to prevent skin irritations, while the silkier texture makes the coat much easier for families to brush and maintain.
-
A Balanced, Confident Temperament: This Tri-Blend creates the ultimate psychological middle ground. The puppies will inherit the Cavalier’s famous "velcro-dog" loyalty and deeply soulful, gentle affection. From the Poodle, they gain soaring intelligence, extreme cleverness, and an eagerness to please. Finally, the Havanese contributes a famously sturdy confidence, a brave spark, and a highly adaptable nature. They are less prone to nervous energy, making them calm, adaptable, and effortlessly trainable companions.
Expected Coat Types
Structurally, all puppies will be long-haired and fully furnished (bearded). The coats will be incredibly plush and manageable, combining the Poodle’s low-shedding qualities with the Havanese’s silky, mat-resistant "slip" and the Cavalier's velvety softness. Every puppy will have a wavy to curly fleece coat that is wonderfully breathable and functional for busy households.
We could not be more thrilled to witness the original purity of our 18-year foundation merge with the structural and intellectual brilliance of the Havapoo line. This final legacy litter from Celina will undoubtedly produce the ultimate family companions, carrying forward a rich history of health, intelligence, and profound emotional support.

A Healthier Gene Pool: The Magic of Genetic Resilience
The biggest advantage of crossing a Cavapoo with a Havapoo is a massive boost in genetic diversity, which scientists call "heterozygosity."
Purebred dogs come from a closed gene pool, which means they are only ever mated with dogs of the exact same breed. Over many generations, this lack of variety causes hidden, unhealthy traits to build up in the bloodline. When a Cavapoo (half Cavalier, half Poodle) is paired with a Havapoo (half Havanese, half Poodle), the genetic doors are thrown wide open.
Because three completely different breeds are involved, the chances of a puppy inheriting two copies of a bad gene are drastically lowered. If the Cavalier line has a hidden weakness, the healthy genes from the Havanese and Poodle step in to override it. This broad genetic mix leads to incredible genetic resilience, meaning the puppies naturally have stronger immune systems, better internal health, and a much better chance at a long, vibrant life.

A Stronger Body: Healthy Skulls, Brains, and Bones
Combining these three distinct body types creates profound health benefits, especially when it comes to the puppies' skulls, brains, and bone structure.
One of the most important reasons to include the Havanese and Poodle in this mix is to protect the puppies' brains. Purebred Cavaliers are unfortunately very prone to a painful condition called Chiari-like Malformation (CM). This happens when the back of the dog's skull is simply too small to comfortably fit the brain. The tight squeeze pushes the brain down toward the spine, blocking the natural flow of spinal fluid and causing painful fluid-filled pockets to form along the spine (known as Syringomyelia, or SM).
The Havanese and the Poodle both have beautifully shaped, roomy skulls. By mixing these breeds with the Cavalier, the resulting puppies grow up with a wider, deeper head structure. This simple change in the shape of the skull creates plenty of room for the brain to rest comfortably. It allows spinal fluid to flow normally, greatly protecting the puppies from these painful neurological issues.
This cross also creates a wonderful balance for the rest of the body. Toy breeds are sometimes bred to be so small that their bones become delicate. The Havanese brings a wonderful sturdiness to the mix, featuring solid bone structure and great muscle tone. The Poodle adds lovely leg length and an athletic build. When you put these together with the Cavalier, the puppies get a beautifully balanced frame. The sturdy Havanese chest and the athletic Poodle legs help correct the weak knees or loose joints that can sometimes happen in pure spaniel lines, protecting the dogs from joint pain as they age.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Heart Health: Protecting the Mitral Valve
Heart health is a major concern for many small dogs, and for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, the biggest risk is Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MVD). This is a condition where a small valve inside the heart slowly thickens and weakens, causing blood to leak backward. Because this disease is deeply embedded in the Cavalier breed, it is incredibly difficult to avoid when breeding them purely to each other.
This is where the F1 Havapoo truly saves the day. Both the Havanese and the Poodle are known for having incredibly strong, healthy hearts with very low risks of valve disease. By mixing their strong heart genetics with the Cavapoo, the genetic risks from the Cavalier side are heavily watered down. The tissues inside the heart grow stronger and more elastic, which can significantly delay or even completely prevent heart murmurs and heart failure.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Dental Health: A Stronger Jaw and Healthier Teeth
Another wonderful benefit of combining these three breeds is the improvement in dental health. Small companion dogs often struggle with overcrowded teeth because their jaws are simply too small to comfortably fit all their adult teeth. This crowding traps food and bacteria, leading to early dental disease, bad breath, and tooth loss.
Because the Havanese brings a slightly wider jaw and the Poodle adds a touch of length to the snout, this specific cross creates a beautifully proportioned mouth. The puppies will have much more room for their teeth to grow in straight and properly spaced. This natural spacing makes it significantly easier to keep their teeth clean, naturally lowering the risk of dental disease and helping them keep a healthy, strong smile their entire life.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Eye Health: Clear Vision for Life
Purebred lines often carry hidden risks for inherited eye conditions, such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) or early-onset cataracts. Because these conditions are usually recessive, a puppy needs two copies of the bad gene for the disease to develop.
By bringing three completely separate family trees together, the chances of a puppy inheriting two copies of the same defective eye gene are virtually eliminated. The strong, healthy eye genetics from one breed will naturally mask any hidden weaknesses from another. This means the puppies are genetically protected, ensuring they maintain bright, clear vision and healthy eyes well into their senior years.

The Ultimate Easy-Care Coat: Silky, Wavy, and Low-Shedding
Creating a gorgeous, allergy-friendly coat that does not take hours to brush is a huge benefit of this cross.
To get that adorable, fluffy "teddy bear" face, dogs need what breeders call the furnishings gene. Furnishings are simply the longer hairs that create eyebrows, a beard, and a mustache. In this specifically planned future pairing, the mother, Celina (Cavapoo), carries one copy of the furnishings gene, while the father, Carob (Havapoo), carries two solid copies. Because Carob has two copies to pass down, it is a mathematical guarantee that every single puppy will inherit at least one copy of the furnishings gene, ensuring they will all have full facial fluff and a highly predictable, low-to-no-shedding coat.
Crucially, this exact genetic recipe—one copy from Celina and two copies from Carob—is the specific reason why their future puppies will have that ultimate fleece coat. By not overloading the genetics with too many dense curl traits from both parents, the coat remains beautifully relaxed.
While the Poodle brings tight, curly hair that does not shed, it can be a nightmare to brush because the tight curls act like velcro and cause painful mats. The Cavalier brings a soft, gentle wave. But the real secret ingredient is the Havanese. The Havanese coat is incredibly lightweight, slick, and silky.
When you combine the silky Havanese hair with the wavy Cavapoo coat, something amazing happens. The slick Havanese texture relaxes the tight Poodle curl, creating a loose, flowing "open fleece." Because the individual hairs are so smooth and silky, they do not wrap tightly around one another to form knots. Your brush will glide right through this coat, making daily grooming completely stress-free and keeping the dog looking incredibly beautiful with minimal effort.

A Perfectly Balanced Personality: Smart, Sweet, and Sturdy
Finally, crossing these three specific breeds creates a dog with an absolutely wonderful, well-rounded personality.
The Cavalier brings a deep, gentle empathy. They love humans more than anything and bring a calm, soothing presence to the home. The Havanese brings a cheerful, bouncy, and sturdy confidence. They are little clowns who love to play, and this natural bravery helps prevent the shyness or separation anxiety that some spaniels struggle with. The Poodle brings serious intelligence. They learn rules quickly, love to figure things out, and are incredibly easy to train.
When you put all three together, you get a family member who is brilliantly smart, joyfully sturdy, and incredibly loving. They have the athletic energy to go for a long hike in the woods, but they also have a wonderful "off-switch" that lets them happily snooze on the couch when the adventure is over.
