4.5 week old puppy video update:
Hello Everyone!
Following up on our recent update about moving Atira and Reuben’s puppies into the living room, we are thrilled to share the second half of their progress. The transition into the heart of our home has been wonderful, and the puppies are thriving as they tackle some major developmental milestones.
We have had some power outages in the recent storms, which delayed getting this update out to everyone, and we thank you all so much for your patience. We were able to get a video successfully uploaded last night, however, and we are glad to finally be getting it sent off to you now so you can see these sweet babies in action (video at bottom).
With the move to their new space, the puppies are now experiencing the very first stages of potty training. We use washable potty pads to begin this process, and introducing this concept requires working with their natural instincts. By adjusting the size of their pen in careful stages and strategically positioning the pads away from their sleeping and play areas, they naturally learn where they should eliminate. They are doing incredibly well with this setup, and we are so proud to report that there have been absolutely no accidents thus far! This indoor pad training is just the first step in their learning. When they reach around six weeks of age, we will begin introducing them to the outdoors to give them fresh air exposure and to establish a consistent routine of going outside in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
Another exciting change is that the puppies have begun eating a specially prepared meat slurry during the daytime. This nourishing blend consists of high-quality meat, probiotics, and a gentle goat-milk-based formula designed to ease the transition from nursing. They practically dove into the dish for their very first meal, with their natural instincts working full force; the exact moment their noses touched the food, they were enthusiastically gobbling it down! Weaning is currently in progress for two very important reasons. First, it supports the next stage of the puppies' development as their growing bodies naturally begin needing meat in their diet. Second, it provides much-needed relief for Atira. The puppies' teeth are already quite sharp, and her babies are getting so big—a true credit to what a wonderful, attentive mother she is—that nursing is simply becoming less comfortable for her to support continuously.
Behind the scenes, we have also been assessing their temperaments and calculating their size for their adult weight estimates to help match each puppy with the perfect home. One wonderful thing about this litter is that they will all share the exact same coat type—beautiful, non-shedding curls!
Before puppy-choosing day arrives, the puppies will be treated to a full bath. While they certainly need a cleanup after dish diving into their food bowl recently, bathing serves a much deeper purpose for us. It is a fantastic way for us to gauge how each puppy responds to a completely new experience that requires trust, and it also helps us to see how they respond to control. While we work hard to make bathing and other desensitization experiences comfortable and positive, giving a bath means temporarily taking them out of their normal routine of what they have previously known. Halting their regular activities while the bathing and drying take place requires them to yield to our guidance. Water is a totally new sensation, and the sound and feel of the blow dryer can be scary, so navigating this cooperative process helps us better understand their individual personalities and resilience. Because these puppies have those gorgeous curls, they will require a lifetime of regular coat maintenance, so we are also using this time to gently handle their paws, check their ears, and open their mouths to set a wonderful foundation for future grooming.
Being in the centre of our family-raised environment means the puppies have also had an absolute explosion of new experiences. They are being exposed to a wide variety of sounds to help build their confidence and shape their behaviour. From hearing the rumble of the lawn mower outside to the familiar, bustling sounds of meal prep in our kitchen, they are taking everything in stride. We also keep the TV on with normal, everyday shows and regularly play a host of different sound effects from YouTube to thoroughly desensitize them to as many things as possible.
We are already looking forward to puppy-choosing day, where families will be meeting the puppies in our sunroom. We look forward to meeting everyone for puppy-choosing!
They are growing into such well-adjusted, confident little pups, and we cannot wait to share more updates as their personalities continue to blossom!
Please remember to bring your holding fee in cash if you are visiting in person as e-transfers can be flaky depending on your phone signal, and we want your money to be safe. We ask that you bring the regular amount ($1,160) for the holding fee, and the final balance due at 8 weeks / pick up will be adjusted according to the fur colour chosen.

4 week old puppy photo update:
Can you believe we are already at the four-week mark? Time is truly flying, and we are absolutely thrilled to share this monumental update with all of you. Atira’s puppies have officially reached a major turning point in their development, transforming from sleepy newborns into vibrant, curious, and incredibly aware little dogs.
The four-week milestone is absolutely epic. At exactly twenty-eight days old, they are conquering some amazing, age-specific developmental stages. This marks the official opening of their "critical socialization window"—a magical, fleeting phase where their brains are like sponges, completely open to the world without fear. Every positive experience they have right now builds a lifelong foundation of rock-solid confidence.
Here are the specific milestones they are reaching right now:
• Sitting Up and Finding Their Footing: The belly-crawling days are entirely behind them. Their hind legs have developed the strength needed to hold up their bodies. They are now actively walking, sitting up proudly on their own, and testing their balance with clumsy but adorable little runs.
• Learning to Play: This is the week where their true canine social skills begin to shine. Instead of simply sleeping near one another, they are purposefully interacting with their littermates, initiating play, bowing, and engaging in miniature wrestling matches.
• Vocalizing and Expression: We are starting to hear their very first real barks, play-growls, and yips. They are also wagging their tails intentionally to communicate their excitement.
• Puppy Teeth and Bite Inhibition: Those tiny baby teeth are emerging! Through their play wrestling with their siblings and interactions with Atira, they are learning the crucial first lessons of bite inhibition and proper social behaviour.
Because they are growing so rapidly and mastering these physical skills, it is time for their next great adventure. We are preparing to move the puppies out of the quiet, peaceful Nursery and into the bustling heart of our home: the living room.
This transition is a massive step in our socialization and desensitization program. Moving them into the living room is not just about giving them a larger space to stretch their legs and practice their new walking and playing skills. It is about intentionally immersing them in the daily rhythms of our family-raised environment. They will be safely exposed to a symphony of new household sounds—the television, the vacuum cleaner, daily conversations, and the clatter of the kitchen. They will experience different lighting, new textures under their paws, and the comforting, constant presence of our family moving around them.
By introducing these varied, real-world experiences right at this crucial age, we are actively teaching their developing brains to be resilient, calm, and highly adaptable. It builds the foundation for confident puppies who are completely unfazed by the normal activities of a busy household. They aren't just growing; they are learning how to conquer the world with curiosity instead of fear.
As part of this milestone week, the puppies had their nails trimmed, enjoyed a gentle brushing, and received a quick wipe down with puppy wipes. A bath is not needed just yet, as Atira continues to keep them perfectly clean! We also weighed them to ensure they are right on track and administered their scheduled deworming again. All of the puppies handled the experience brilliantly!
Because they were so relaxed and comfortable being handled, we were able to capture their photos with ease today. Sitting nicely for the camera at this age shows good cooperation skills and an outstanding attention span for such young minds.
We have a new set of photos ready for you today to celebrate how much they have grown over the last week. We will also be sending out a video update in just a few days. We want to give them a little bit of time to settle into their grand new living room space, and we will be sure to share all the excitement soon!
📸 You will find each puppy's individual 4-week photos and weights below: 🐾

We will have more to share over this coming week when we move them to our living room, so keep an eye out for updates as they take this huge step forward.
Thank you all for sharing in this exciting journey with us.
We are so proud of Atira and these remarkable puppies, and we cannot wait to show you how they handle their big move!

2 and a 1/2 week old continued update:
As we promised in our previous update, we are thrilled to follow up with the individual photos of Atira and Reuben's little ones now that their eyes are fully open! It has only been a few days, but the physical changes in them are already so remarkable. We have been busy capturing their sweet faces, and we are so excited to finally share these close-ups with you so you can see their emerging personalities and beautiful developing coats. While we made sure to capture a left and right side profile for every puppy, we also let them lay however they were most comfortable on the set. This means they are really showing off their natural differences in how they chose to pose for the camera, which is just the beginning of their unique characters shining through.

As their physical bodies continue to rapidly change, the scope of their daily care is expanding right along with them. We recently administered their first deworming treatment using StrongidT, which we carefully measured and dosed according to each puppy's exact weight. Deworming is a fundamentally important step in our health protocol. Even in the most meticulously clean environments, treating for internal parasites is a standard and necessary preventative measure. It ensures that their delicate gastrointestinal tracts remain healthy and functioning properly, which means they can fully absorb all the vital nutrients from Atira's milk. Keeping them completely parasite-free is essential to support their developing immune systems and their rapid physical growth during these crucial early weeks.
We have also officially introduced the puppies to their very first grooming routines. We took the time to gently brush out their soft coats and wiped them down completely with soothing puppy wipes to keep them feeling clean and fresh. Additionally, we gave each of them a nail trim and carefully trimmed the hair directly in front of their eyes.
While these tasks might seem simple, they hold immense importance from both a health and desensitization standpoint. From a health and grooming perspective, keeping their fast-growing nails short is vital so they do not inadvertently scratch Atira while they are eagerly nursing, and it also helps their paw pads make proper contact with the ground as they continue to practice walking and supporting their own weight. Trimming the hair away from their newly opened eyes is equally important to ensure their line of sight is completely clear, which prevents the hair from causing physical irritation or trapping moisture that could lead to excessive tear staining.
From a desensitization standpoint, introducing these grooming elements right now is absolutely invaluable. By gently handling their paws for nail trims, touching their faces with scissors, and getting them accustomed to the sensation of a brush and wet wipes, we are teaching them that being groomed is a completely normal, safe, and positive experience. Building this foundation of trust and physical tolerance early on significantly reduces stress and ensures they will be confident, cooperative, and comfortable with routine handling and grooming tasks as they mature into adult dogs.
We hope you have enjoyed looking through all the new photos, and we look forward to sending you another update as the puppies reach new milestones.
We also have a bunch of information in the e-mail sent off to announce this update that will be helpful for families adding a puppy to their home.
Thank you again for joining us on this journey.

2 week old mini update:
It is hard to believe that Atira and Reuben’s puppies are already reaching their two-week milestone. This is such a transformative period in their development, and we are excited to share all the progress they have made. While they may still look like tiny, sleepy bundles, there is an incredible amount of growth happening beneath the surface as they prepare to interact more fully with the world.
A big part of this early success is how well Atira is doing. She is doing wonderfully and has been an incredibly attentive mother to her eight little ones. She is eating like a champion to keep up with the high caloric demand of nursing such a large litter, and her dedication ensures the puppies are staying well-fed and content.
One of the most exciting physical developments we are witnessing right now is their effort to find their footing. Even though their legs are still wobbly, the puppies are already pushing themselves up and attempting to support their own weight. This repetitive movement is essential for building the muscle strength and coordination they will need for walking in the coming weeks. It is a wonderful stage to watch as they transition from the "scooting" or "swimming" motions of their first week to these more deliberate attempts at standing.
While their eyes are not yet fully open, the puppies are already becoming little explorers. Since they cannot see their surroundings quite yet, they are discovering the environment through sensory touch and feeling. We have introduced various toys into their space, and it is fascinating to watch them navigate these objects. They learn by mouthing the toys, walking over them, or simply choosing to cuddle up against them for a sense of security. These early tactile experiences are vital for their cognitive development and help them begin to understand the space around them.
In addition to their natural exploration, the puppies are just finishing up their Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) program, also known as the "Bio Sensor" program. These specific exercises, conducted during this critical window of brain development, help to improve their cardiovascular performance, provide stronger heartbeats, and create a greater tolerance to stress. We believe these early steps are foundational in raising confident and resilient dogs.
We are also starting to see their beautiful coats begin to change. It is truly hard to believe that the white puppies with apricot markings started out looking nearly solid white. Much like the way Dalmatian puppies gain their signature spots as they grow, our little ones are now showing distinct patches that are becoming more visible by the day. Watching these colours deepen and the patterns emerge is one of the most rewarding parts of these early weeks, as each puppy begins to show a unique look.
In addition to their physical movements and colour changes, their internal world is expanding as well. Their ears are now beginning to open, which means they will soon start responding to the sounds of our voices and the daily activity within our home. Along with this, their neurological systems are maturing rapidly. At two weeks, puppies are also beginning to develop their internal thermostat, although they still rely heavily on their mother and littermates for warmth and comfort.
We are keeping a close watch on their progress and will have another update for you very soon. We plan to take individual photos in a few days once all their eyes have fully opened and they are ready for their close-ups. In that next update, we will touch more on how puppies gain the wonderful gift of sight at two weeks and we will also share their updated weights. We are so proud of how well this litter is doing and cannot wait to show you more of their developing personalities.

Birth Announcement:

A Joyous Arrival: Atira and Reuben’s New Puppies!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce the glowing arrival of Atira and Reuben’s beautiful new puppies! They were born on the morning of April 19th, making their entrance into the world between 12:07 AM and 6:22 AM. We always hope for our mothers to have easy deliveries, and Atira did exceptionally well throughout the entire process. She had an incredibly smooth and easy birthing experience, resting comfortably between each puppy's arrival. We are immensely proud of her and so very thankful that everything went exactly as expected. Atira and all the puppies are doing wonderfully. We welcomed a total of eight strong and vibrant puppies into our family—three handsome boys and five gorgeous girls.
Atira's eight puppies lined up in a row with the three boys on the left and the five girls on the right in their beautiful alternating colours:
And here are more of their sweet faces:
Atira is proving once again to be a truly wonderful mother. She is extraordinarily gentle, very stable, and cares for her little ones with a tenderness that is simply unmatched by our other moms. She has a natural ability to instill a beautifully calm nature in her puppies. Her exceptional temperament comes as no surprise when you look at her lineage. Atira’s mother is our wonderful retired service dog, Aurora, and her father is our Cavapoo stud, Arlo, whose lines trace back seventeen years to our very foundation lines. This combination of outstanding temperaments on both sides is exactly what makes Atira the remarkable dog and devoted mother she is today. And of course, the puppies' father, Reuben, adds that perfect dash of fun spice to the mix that absolutely everyone loves!
The Magic of Nature’s Paintbrush
We always say that we make the plans, but nature is the one that ultimately holds the paintbrush. When it comes to the magic of genetics, we are really just along for the ride! While we were expecting a sea of red, Atira and Reuben decided to surprise us by decorating their nursery in a beautiful splash of white and apricot instead. Out of the eight puppies, four are a stunning red, and the other four are beautiful white with apricot patches. While parti markings are certainly possible in their lines, Atira and Reuben’s first litter together only produced one white boy with apricot patches on his face. Having four puppies in this striking white and apricot pattern is an incredibly unique and exciting surprise that we did not anticipate!
Pictures below are of "Lemon" from Atira and Reuben and also of "Sherwood"
from Atira first litter as an example of these beautiful markings and fur type:

Transparent Pricing & Availability
We have intentionally waited a few days to announce this litter because puppy markings often become much more visible as they age. While we can clearly see that there are lovely patterns present, we do not completely know exactly how much colour they will ultimately have at this point. Because we were blessed with an unexpectedly high number of these unique white and apricot puppies, their adoption fee is set at $2,000 plus HST ($260), for a total of $2,260. Our four red puppies remain at our standard rate of $2,500 plus HST ($325), totaling $2,825, simply reflecting the fact that fewer red puppies are available in this litter than we had originally anticipated.
The Science of Development
Did you know that puppies, much like kittens and several other mammals, are actually born quite "premature" compared to many other animals? It is a fun and fascinating part of their development. They continue to do a vast amount of their growing completely outside of the womb. They are born with both their eyes and their ears completely closed, and those senses will not begin to open up until they are around fourteen days old.
Even though they cannot see or hear right now, they brilliantly use their little noses to navigate, locating their mother and finding the spot where they need to nurse. If you have ever watched a newborn puppy do their adorable "army crawl," there is a great reason behind that movement. It is not just because they cannot see; their bones actually form and harden as they age. Right now, their little bodies are mostly made up of soft cartilage. Their bones will continue to calcify and their growth plates will gradually close, a process which can continue from birth all the way through to one year of age.
Our Family-Centered Approach & ENS
We take great pride in our family-centered approach to raising our litters. Instead of being raised in a separate facility or kennel, our puppies are born and nurtured right in the heart of our family home. They are handled daily and exposed to the natural sounds and movements of a household, which helps them become well-adjusted and confident before they ever leave our care.
Additionally, we utilize Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), often called the "Bio-Sensor" program, during the puppies' first weeks of life. This involves a sequence of gentle exercises designed to stimulate the neurological system during a critical window of development. The lifelong benefits of ENS include:
-
Improved cardiovascular performance
-
Stronger heartbeats
-
More productive adrenal glands
-
A higher tolerance to stress
-
A stronger immune system
This early investment helps ensure every puppy grows into a brave, healthy, and resilient adult.
The "Teddy Bear" Look
As these little ones continue to grow, every single one of these puppies is going to have the most beautiful curls. They will soon look exactly like fluffy little teddy bears. Their coats will be wonderfully moldable, meaning they will perfectly hold the shape of any hair style you choose to give them. Best of all, they will have fantastic non-shedding coats just like the Poodle, making them the absolute perfect companions. We anticipate these puppies will mature to a perfect "middle" size, with an expected adult weight range of 16 to 20 pounds.

As we conclude the Birth Announcement for Atira and Reuben's puppies, we have a video of them with Atira below.
For those on Atira's list ~ please check your e-mail for all other important information and dates! We are collecting deposits for this litter!
We hope you enjoy seeing the puppies and mom in motion:
