4 week old video update:

Maewyn's puppies are now 4 weeks old and we have moved them from the Nursery to our front entrance sun room where they will be for puppy-choosing starting next week, but the reason for the move is four-fold:
-
the puppies are ready to move out of the whelping box at this age, if they aren't already climbing out, they would be soon!
-
the mild stress of changing "location" is helpful for teaching puppies coping skills and to aid in the transition from our home to yours.
-
furthering desensitization and socialization in a new location with new experiences.
-
a bio-secure area for puppy choosing for the safety of all our dogs and puppies.
The puppies need more space to play and the new pen area offers double the space of the whelping box, and the puppies also have the exposure to a potty area in the form of a washable potty pad (the green side of the pen).
And while the puppies did absolutely amazing transitioning to a new area with tail wags and curious exploration -- the inner (and normal) stress of change is still present and something that the puppies have to go through in order to learn proper coping skills. In the wild, the equivalent of this would be in the form of changing dens.
In our sun room the puppies will be able to see and hear many new sights and sounds. And winter time provides the perfect opportunity to desensitize the puppies to seeing us put on winter apparel (winter coats, gloves, hats/toques, boots, etc.) while going outside to shovel/move snow or to do chores which may include the use of a flashlight on dark winter mornings and evenings. They will also be able to see us carrying in groceries, courier deliveries, and all of the comings and goings of a normal household. Their pen space will rotate between the sun room and our living room between now and 8 weeks to continue this process but also to allow the puppies to hear cooking sounds and smell food being prepared, etc.
The sun room also acts as a necessary bio-secure area when families come to visit. It's an easily cleaned space and prevents disease and parasites from unknowingly being tracked into our home when visitors remain in the sun room, and we can quarantine there if necessary to protect any younger current litters or exposure of our adult dogs.
The puppies all used the potty pad quickly as we worked with their natural instincts while setting up the pen so they had a designated play area with all the toys occupying one end (which mostly blocks them from using that side in the beginning) and the potty pad is set up on the far side of the pen which is the farthest away from the first point where the puppies would see us enter the room. Puppies will eat and sleep in the area that is closest to where they anticipate seeing you. We will eventually start taking the puppies outside for potty exposure on the snow, but this needs to happen after the puppies build up their individual immunity to their environment and when they are better equipped to withstand the cold snow.
We have also started to introduce the puppies to eating meat and over the course of the next couple of weeks, they will be weaned from nursing from Maewyn, but that doesn't include being separated from their mom. Our moms always have access to interact with their puppies while wearing a onesie / jumpsuit which prevents nursing once Maewyn's milk starts to dry up, but still allows the puppies to have the comfort of snuggling, playing, and learning the all-important social lessons that only a mom can teach!
We will get individual photos and post their weights by the weekend, as we want to do another mini update closer to puppy-choosing starting on the 2nd.
We'll sign off this 4-week video update with a couple of photos of the puppies with their first intro to crate training where they spent about half an hour just relaxing while we set up their sun room pen -- all puppies were quiet with zero fuss over being crated or moved:

3.5 week bonus video update:

2 week old puppy update:

Maewyn's puppies turned 2 weeks old this week! And we once again are in awe of this litter's chill demeanor! Around 2 weeks of age is when the eyes and ears open and it can be a time when some puppies will startle at new sights and sounds, but this litter is curious and so calm about everything new!
As you can see, we have introduced some toys, and they are completely unbothered by them! We have also given them a patterned print to challenge their depth perception as they learn to walk.
And for their official photos we gave them a bright and colourful set, on which they proceeded to contently fall asleep on it's soft and cozy surface.
The puppies are so compliant and they are also growing rapidly! All puppies will essentially double their birth-weight by 2 weeks of age, and you can see just how much the puppies have changed since then in their current photos below:

The puppies are just starting to get their nose pigmentation this week, and it will continue to fill in over the next several weeks to have a solid colour of either brown or black.
This week, the puppies will begin to experience various sounds as we introduce recordings and go about our day caring for our dogs and home. Their desensitization can now take a huge turn in developing confidence around many strange and new things now that they can see and hear!
We look forward to seeing how the puppies continue to respond each and every day!
After the photos, the puppies were weighed for their 1st deworming, and we also trimmed their nails. They were entirely compliant and relaxed throughout both experiences.
We have given the puppies an identification name that is only meant for quick reference, and the puppies will not become accustomed to these names. We encourage you to think about a puppy name over the coming weeks and let us know a name around puppy choosing time. Below you can see their photos for their 2 week update and their current weights: (photos can be clicked to enlarge)

We have a little video of the puppies napping and navigating some of the toys in their whelping box, and also nursing from Maewyn.

Birth Announcement:
Maewyn has given birth to FIVE puppies on October 28th, 2025! We decided to wait until after Oct. 31st when families would then be able to concentrate on the puppies and enjoy the announcement!
Everything went very smoothly for Maewyn with an easy and fast birthing of her beautiful puppies! All puppies were born between 5:12 PM and 6:45 PM which is incredible -- it all happened so quickly for her!
In the litter, there are 3 boys and 2 girls, and they all look to have very curly fur even at this early stage which is typically a strong indication of them having furnishings / curly and fluffy coats. Here are some photos of Maewyn with her darling puppies:

Maewyn and her puppies are doing very well! The puppies are quite strong and very robust, and they all came out looking as though they had eaten a full course dinner which is quite rare appearance wise! Needless to say, they are nursing vigorously as well!
We are also extremely pleased with the quiet and content nature that is already very evident in these puppies. This is Maewyn and Reuben's 3rd litter together, and it is proving to be just as amazing as their previous litters with mellow and gentle energy. Lining up our puppies in a row for photos is practically a signature trademark at this point, as we have been doing it for 16+ years, but if you take a look at the photos below and think that it is easily accomplished -- you'd be wrong in most cases! Puppies don't naturally sleep in a line, and getting them to settle where their cute faces can be seen can be quite the challenge most times. However, we have observed for Maewyn and Reuben's past 2 litters, and for this current litter, which now holds the record of the "fastest to settle" for the line up photos in the entirety of our 16+ years! Maeywn's puppies were placed in a row and they stayed that way for the entire time needed to get their photos -- this has never happen before and good temperaments *can* be seen at birth if you know what you are looking for -- and this litter "has it"!

From LEFT to RIGHT in the photos where the puppies
are facing the camera their genders are:
MALE ~ FEMALE ~ MALE ~ MALE ~ FEMALE
We also have a video of the puppies with Maewyn for you to enjoy:
We have some up close photos of the puppies below and we have included their time of birth, gender, and their colour info. All puppies will change as they grow and it's *very* common for white puppies to gain spots as they mature (kind of like how Dalmatians are born pure white and get their spots later), but in spaniel breeds this tends to happen between a few months and 1-ish year of age.
Puppies are shown in the order of their birth:

You will receive an e-mail with information regarding the choosing and pick-up dates for this litter, and how to send in your deposit.
We look forward to hearing from everyone and we will end the Birth Announcement with a few more photos of Maewyn with her puppies:
